How to Pray God’s Will using Bible Scriptures

Written by Sis. Lorraine Samuel

.

This prayer book is very simple to read and use.

They should be read OUT LOUD every day.

Why read them out loud?

Even at the beginning of the Bible at Genesis 1:3, notice that it starts with, "Then God said…"

In verse 6 it says again, "Then God said…"

In verse 9, the same thing. "Then God said…"

God created the heavens and the earth by speaking them into existence. By praying the scriptures out loud you are speaking God’s will for your life into existence. Sure, He can hear you if you pray silently, but it is Him hearing the spoken Word that makes Him move in your behalf. Hearing the Word is what causes your faith to rise, not just reading it. There is power in the spoken Word. The power of prayer is when God intervenes and changes you, a situation or circumstances you’ve been praying about. Luke 18:1 niv bible says, "Then Jesus told the disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up". Jesus wants us to pray no matter how great or how small the issue or request is. I didn’t know if God was going to answer my prayer or not but I’m glad I was persistent and didn’t give up.

Prayer changes things. Hebrews 4:12 (niv bible) says, "for the word (scriptures) of God is living and active". Isn’t it amazing how the scriptures you pray can accomplish what you decree! God is a powerful living being. When you speak and believe in His word, you activate faith which pleases God, this is the power of prayer. You must remember, the bible is not a magic book that will give you anything you want. You can’t pray bible scriptures or pray period and see results if your heart, motives and attitude are not right. James 4:2-3 (nlt) says, "you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure". Is God going to receive glory out of your request? Is Gods will or purpose for your life going to be fulfilled by answering your prayer? This is what answered prayer really boils down to. Your life is not your own, it belongs to God. Yes, God wants us to be happy and live a fulfilled life but according to his will. If what we are praying and asking God for does not bring him glory or fulfil his purposes in this earth he may not answer that prayer. God is moved by a pure heart, loving motives and a right attitude.

Sometimes prayers are answered quickly and sometimes they’re not. Ecclesiastes 3:1 (niv) says, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven". Notice the word time.. Lol!! The power of prayer is being patient and allowing the "living word" to be accomplished in its due season. Many times we hinder our prayers by taking matters into our own hands, which complicates things even more. If the scripture you are praying or confessing requires action, do it. If God leads you to do something, by all means be obedient and do it! Otherwise, be patient and trust God.

Sometimes fasting and prayer is required to see a prayer answered. Matthew 17:21 (amplified bible) says, "but this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting. Sometimes the stronghold on your situation is so great, it requires a spiritual sacrifice like fasting in order for the stronghold to be broken.

Praise and Worship

Before praying, you should start with some Praise and Worship songs. You don’t need a special songbook, the Bible is already full of songs. I found some of the popular Christian songs in the Bible. What better way to catch the Lord’s attention, then by singing His Word in song? You can even say the verses if you can’t sing. It’s also a good idea to end your prayer time thanking Him for what He’s going to do.

The Scriptures Pages

If you are sick or in need of a spiritual healing, praying the Healing Scriptures will help you. Read them everyday, morning noon and night. You need to drench yourself in the Word of God. Not only does it build your faith to believe, it will remind you, when all those aches and pains come, that Jesus took sicknesses and diseases with Him to the cross when He died. Sickness and disease was crucified with Christ on the cross.

I had one lady write to tell me that her friend was in intensive care, and she would go to see her and read the healing scriptures to her every day. The friend in intensive care was healed from hearing the spoken Word. I would even recommend that you make a cassette recording of the scripture prayers, and get a cassette player that has an auto reverse. Put headphones on the patient so the spoken Word of God can continually soak into their mind. I have heard this being done for people that are in a coma.

Scriptures for Needs was written because at the time I was trying to raise money to be a missionary. I looked up every scripture I could find and wrote them down and prayed them every day to remind myself that God will supply my needs, and will make a way where there looks like there is no way. These prayers can build your faith to believe for all that God has for you, and don’t forget to send the angels to cause it to come.

When I compiled the Scriptures for Encouragement it was because I was meeting so many people that were depressed and discouraged. I actually looked for prayers to encourage a person, but couldn’t find any. These Scriptures will encourage you and build you up in your faith.

In Conclusion

I would like to tell you other different ways I have heard these scripture prayers being prayed. Some people just pray each page by itself. Some people pray in the spirit in between each scripture. Some people enter a praise and worship then begin to pray, and at the end of the prayer, thanking God for the outcome in advance. Which of course is a good idea because that’s what faith is, believing you receive it, before you can see it.

Some people just use this booklet as a reference, such as being on a prayer request telephone line, like prayer counsellors or prayer warriors, and intercessory prayer . Even if you are waiting in traffic or sitting on a bench in the park, you can take out this booklet and pray. Once you see how these scriptures are put together in prayer, you can look for scriptures yourself about your certain situation and compile a prayer to pray.

Praying for Relationships was written because there are many couples having problems in their marriages.

When you pray this prayer, you may see a gradual change in your partner, but the main change is what you see happening to yourself.

You will change first, mostly in your attitude. And there is a certain peace when you can just release your partner into God’s hands, for Him to deal with. This prayer also covers Family Relationships.

These are scriptures to pray over children. When I wrote Praying for the Children, I actually had my children in mind.

I wanted to cover them in prayer before they go off into the world alone. I wanted them to be able to make the right decisions, and stay away from all that was evil. I then realized that all children was included in the prayer.

You can also pray these scriptures for your unborn child. If you would like to pray for a specific child, just replacing the word children will personalize it.

Early Morning Prayer
Why it is important to pray?

.

Here in this picture you see a person sailing in a boat.

An open bible lies on his lap and he is smiling.

Set your Sails shows you the benefits of early morning prayer.

Why it is important to pray?

When you start your day by praying, you fill your mind with wisdom, peace, strength, revelation, joy and fellowship with your heavenly Father.

clip_image002

At the same time your moving out of your way adversity, strife, fears, temptations and depression. And what do you leave in your wake? Joy, peace, love, gentleness, and kindness. Just a few minutes in the morning with your heavenly Father can make all the difference in the world. He’s waiting for you to talk to Him. He knows how busy you are, but can you at least say, Hi ?

Forgiveness Illustration
God is Not Mad at You

.

How simple it is to just ask God to forgive you for your sins.

You can’t make your way to heaven by doing good works.

Good works should be a result of giving your heart to Jesus, not an effort just to be good enough to go to heaven.

When we do go to the Father for forgiveness, we’re covered by Jesus’ crucifixion.

Jesus took sin, sickness, disease, hell, fear, poverty, death, punishment and the grave all to the cross.

When God forgives you, He takes your sins and tosses them into the deepest part of the sea, never to be remembered again.

clip_image004

It’s interesting to note the little demon trying to tell the man that his sins are so bad that God would never forgive him. This is totally the wrong attitude. You’re not going to surprise God with all your hidden sins, He already knows about them. So why not clean the slate and ask Him to forgive you?

Angels Lead People To You
Bible Sermon on Witnessing

.

You don’t have to wonder whether or not you should witness to someone.

The angels are always working, leading people to you, so you can share with them the good news how Jesus died to purchase a place in heaven for them.

Do you think you meet people on the street or shopping by accident?

You just happen to be in the same place at the same time? No, I don’t think so.

clip_image006

Is what you say to them going to be something they remember for the rest of their life? Even if you say something like Praise the Lord they will remember it at least for the rest of the day, and may even go home and tell someone what you said. Then they won’t remember it until it happens again somewhere. This is all a process of planting seed. Will the seed you plant grow, or whither away and die?

When you approach your neighbour (whom Christ asked us to love) on the street, ask them : Do You Know. That:

  • GOD LOVES YOU
  • SIN SEPARATES PEOPLE FROM GOD
  • JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS
  • YOU CAN RECEIVE JESUS NOW AND KNOW GOD’S LOVE

“If you confess with you mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved."

Pray this prayer with your neighbour whilst witnessing:

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name I repent of my sins and open my heart to let Jesus come inside of me.
Jesus, You are my Lord and Savoir. I believe you died for my sins and you were raised from the dead.
Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus’ name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah.

The Rapture Illustration
Bible Sermons In A Cartoon

.

When you receive the gift of eternal life, or became born again by asking Jesus into your heart, are you going to tell anyone?

Are you going to let your friends go to hell because you don’t have the courage to share with them what Jesus has done?

The purpose of life is to share with as many people as you can the good news.

They don’t have to spend eternity in hell when heaven has already been bought and paid for by Jesus. So who are you going to take with you to heaven?

God’s Word
Don’t Leave Home Without It

.

Build yourself up in prayer and God’s Word every day.

The demons will tremble and run at the sight of you.

They know you know the Word, but are always testing you to see if you believe it.

God Is Raising A Standard In The Land

God is raising a standard in the land.

He has put sickness, lack, fear, and immorality under our feet.

We have the victory!

Call for Volunteers in the Church
Sermon Illustration

.

This cartoon is basically a call for volunteers.

For some reason it always seems like there is just a handful of people in the church that are doing all the work.

God has created within each of us a special talent or gift.

If you don’t know what your gift is or what you are called to do, start in the ministry of "helps".

The Promises Of God
God Will Keep His Word

.

The promises of God are Yes and In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah to those in Christ

He is never going to break His Word or take it back.

You can have confidence that everything He promises you in His Word you can receive.

All you have to do is ask.

clip_image016

He promises you health and healing, happiness, hope, prosperity, eternal life, freedom, goodness, mercy, the Holy Spirit, all good things are yours now through Jesus Christ.

Teach A Man To Fish
Discipleship Illustrated Sermon

.

In the cartoon you see two fishermen, the one on the left seems to have had good luck, he has a bucket full of fish. He’s offering the younger man some of his bait.

The younger man is trying to catch fish without bait.

What if the more experienced man just gave him his bucket of fish?

It wouldn’t help him to learn how to catch his own, would it?

clip_image018

So what does this have to do with the Word of God? It is used as an example for discipleship. You can give a person the gift of salvation, but unless you disciple him, he has not learn how to go and catch more for the kingdom of God.

Life Is A Carousel
Take Hold of God’s Word!

.

Here we have a merry go round that represents our life.

We go around and around everyday.

The person on the merry go round is reaching for the bible.

Every time he misses it, he tries to grab it next time around.

The person on the box is encouraging him not to give up and keep trying.

What would we do if we didn’t have people encouraging us all the time? We would give up.

clip_image020

How do you grab a hold of God’s Word? By studying it everyday! Don’t let your life become so busy that you can’t reach out and grab what God has for you. Grab it and hold on to it. Don’t let it slip through you fingers. Short prayers are very effective. You don’t have to pray long drawn out prayers to get Gods attention. God doesn’t want to hear mumble jumble. He wants us to be direct and straight to the point.

Once you have followed the order of prayer through the Lords prayer, then you can bring your petitions to God. I’m a firm believer in praying bible scriptures. There is power in praying Gods word.

Here are a few short prayers that I’ve personally prayed over my life and circumstances. Each prayer is scripturally based. You can apply these short prayers to your own life as well. These are some of the most common prayers that are requested today.
Healing Prayer:

Prayer for Peace:

Father I thank you for peace that surpasses all understanding. Thank you for guarding my heart and mind in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

God keep me in perfect peace as my mind stays focused on you. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth may there be peace to everyone whom your favour rests. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Marriage Prayer:

Sovereign God, I ask that what you have joined together in my spouse and I, no one will separate in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Heavenly Father, I know you hate divorce. I pray no weapon formed against my marriage will prosper. Nothing is impossible with you. I ask you to heal my marriage and restore the love we once had.

(wife) God change me, teach me how to love and respect my husband. (husband) God change me teach me how to love my wife the way Christ loves the church. I believe in my heart that you can turn this around, in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Prayers for Children:

Father I thank you that my children will remain healthy and whole from the hair on top of their heads to the soles of their feet. No sickness or disease will dwell in their bodies, in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Father bless my child’s future. Bright and successful, full of peace, joy and happiness. I pray that my children will honour me so that things will go well for them and they will live long lives in the earth, in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Father, encamp your precious angels around my children everyday. Protect them from hurt, harm and danger. In Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Prayers against Fear:

Father I thank you in the name of Jesus that you have not given me a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Lord, you are my refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. If you are for me, who can be against me! I will not fear, in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

God I trust you will be with me as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, with you, I will fear no evil. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Prayers for Forgiveness:

God, forgive me for my sins knowing and unknowing. Create in me a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me so that I can walk upright before you. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

God, I sincerely forgive and release those who have hurt me. I know that vengeance is yours. I pray for grace and mercy to those who have hurt me, in Jesus name. In Jesus Name, Amen Hallelujah

Here are two simple prayers you can pray over your life. The bible says to "pray without ceasing, for this is the will of God". Expect God to fulfil each of these prayers. Why? Because it’s Gods will for you to have wisdom, increase in your life and peace when you rest at night.

Pray these prayers in faith and pray them often. Be patient!! God will answer each prayer if your heart is right and motives are pure.

Solomon’s Prayer for Wisdom 1 Kings 3:9:
"So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong."

Proverbs 4:7 (niv bible) says, "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding." Solomon was the king of Israel. In a dream God told Solomon to ask for what he wanted. Solomon asked for wisdom so that he would be a good king. God was pleased with Solomon’s request. he granted his wish and blessed him with wealth and riches beyond belief.

Pray Solomon’s simple prayer so you can make wise choices and decisions in your life.

Prayer of Jabez 1 Chronicles 4:10:
"Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain."

The name Jabez means "pain". Jabez received this name because when he was born he caused his mother great pain. Jabez did not want to be cursed or cause people pain for the rest of his life so he cried out to God to lift the curse and bless him with increase. I believe the increase encompassed health, peace, and prosperity!

You can do the same!! God wants to bless you with increase. Pray this simple prayer in faith and release blessings in your life.

There are three kinds of bible fasting that I will explain. Fasting is mandatory if you are going to live a victorious life in Christ. Our lives are full of challenges and many of them we can’t conquer in our own strength. Fasting and prayer will cause a supernatural move of God to take place in you and in your circumstances. You’ll notice things beginning to change.

Fasting is also a form of cleansing and repentance from sin. You still need to verbalize your sins to God, but as you empty your self of food, you replace that emptiness with the word of God and prayer. As the word of God takes root in you and in your thoughts, it begins to cleanse the unrighteous areas of your life.

Let’s look at three types of bible fasting and the different needs that caused people to fast.
THE 40 DAY FAST:

This bible fast is abstaining from all food, solid or liquid. You can drink water. Our human body can not survive forty days without water unless there is a supernatural intervention. Do not attempt this fast unless you are sure the Lord has called you to do it.

Moses was the first person in the bible to do a 40 day fast. Deuteronomy 9:9 When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the lord had made with you, I stayed on the mountain forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water. The purpose in this fast was Moses giving himself completely to the Lord to be used as a vessel to bring forth the Ten Commandments. What an awesome responsibility and sacrifice. Moses gave God his body and complete attention so he could receive every word the Lord was giving to him.

Matthew 4:2 He (Jesus) fasted forty days and forty nights and afterward he was hungry. Jesus was preparing for his ministry. You can feel when a shift is taking place in your life. The 40 day fast can be taken to prepare you for a new season or change in your life.

THE 3 DAY FAST:
The 3 day fast is abstaining from eating and drinking. The human body can go long periods without food, but only a short period of time without water.

This bible fast is usually taken when there is a spiritual emergency or when you need a miracle in a situation that you have absolutely no control over.

Esther 4:16 (niv bible) "Go gather all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do." In this scripture, Queen Esther called for a 3 day fast because there was a plot being planned to destroy all of the Jews in her Kingdom. This was a spiritual emergency. Esther had no control over what was going to take place because the order was already set in motion..

God looked upon her fast, saw the sincerity of her heart and the seriousness of the situation and he intervened. In the end the Jews were not destroyed. How awesome is that!! Read the book of Esther in the bible for the complete story.

THE 21 DAY FAST:
The 21 day fast also know as the Daniel fast is a restricted diet. This bible fast allows you to eat fruits and vegetables only. This is a fast for wisdom and understanding. If you need guidance, instruction or understanding in a particular area or situation in your life, the 21 day fast is a good place to start.

Daniel 10:2,3 (niv bible) "I Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over." Daniel received a vision from the Lord regarding the future of his people (the Israelite nation) but he didn’t understand it. He fasted for 21 days until he received the revelation.

God is no respecter of people. If he did it for Daniel, Esther, Jesus and Moses, he can do it for you. Fasting can give you an edge in seeing prayers answered.
HEAVEN & HELL

Is there life after death? The answer is yes! Whether you choose to believe it or not, heaven and hell do exist. There is no such place as purgatory and there is no such thing as reincarnation. Jesus spoke about hell more than any of the other writers of scripture because he knew how horrible and terrifying it was. He wanted people to choose life in heaven instead of death in hell. Why would a loving God create this awful place? Hell was not created for people. It was created for Satan, his angels and "anyone" that rejects Gods love. Take a look at this passage of scripture, Matthew 25:31,41:

“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

Hell is a place of torment and punishment for all eternity long. Jesus Christ came to earth and died to save you and me from hell. The only way to be saved from hell is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Saviour. Many people reject Jesus because they don’t believe in life after death or that he exists or they feel they’ll have to conform to a boring straight laced lifestyle that involves no fun. Not true!! When you accept Jesus into your heart, you can still follow his commands and enjoy life to the fullest. The only difference is you will be on your way to heaven instead of hell when you die. Why not live a life pleasing to God in the 80 or 90 years your given on earth and live blissfully in heaven for eternity, instead of; rejecting God and living by your own rules for 80 or 90 years, then die and be punished in hell for eternity? This is not how you want to spend your life after death.
Let’s compare heaven and hell:

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14

The narrow gate represents heaven and the wide gate represents hell. Jesus is telling us to follow him to heaven because many people are on their way to hell.

This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:49-50

The wicked reject Christ, the righteous accept Christ. Those that reject Christ will burn in fire. There will be crying, rage and sorrow.

And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where “‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ Mark 9:45,46,48

Its better to live a submitted sacrificial life in Christ than to have no accountability and do whatever pleases you. Part of the torment in hell are the worms that constantly eat the body and the fire that consumes the body will never go out.

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1-3

Heaven has many rooms. Jesus has prepared a place for each of us there. There will be no worries in heaven. Christ is preparing a beautiful life after death for us. Let’s take advantage of it!

But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Saviour from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. Philippians 3:20-21

Perfection awaits us in heaven! There is no sickness, no disease and no disabilities in heaven. If you are disabled on earth, you will be made whole in heaven.

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:20

If you follow the commands of Christ here on earth you can store up treasures in heaven through your obedience.

There is Life after Death. Will you choose life in heaven or death in hell?
