4: 26; Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
As we begin a New Year it’s time to take a look at what is happening in your life and plan for what’s ahead. There are those who don’t think its good to look back, and also don’t like the idea of a New Year’s resolution. But v.26; tells us "ponder the path of thy feet." The word ponder= to weigh mentally: you cant weigh something unless you have something to weigh it against. If you don’t have a goal, there is no way to evaluate if you are making progress. The Bible advocates vision and goal setting, but we need to exercise wisdom. We shouldn’t set goals arbitrarily, independent of God. Establishing goals contrary to God’s will, only absorbs all our time and keep us from Him. It’s beneficial to look back and remember the good and learn from the bad. Use this time to see if your life is going in the direction the Lord wants it to. If it’s not then you need to make some changes. It’s foolish to keep doing the same thing expecting different results! Let your New Year be a time spent knowing Jesus.
